Bentota, a resort town on Sri Lanka's southwest coast, is renowned for its long, picturesque Bentota Beach, which extends northward into a sandy stretch called Paradise Island, running parallel to the tranquil Bentota Lagoon. The area boasts coral-rich dive sites such as Canoe Rock. Along the Bentota River, the centuries-old Galapota Temple features a large Buddha statue. To the southeast lies Lunuganga, the stunning estate and gardens of architect Geoffrey Bawa, while to the northeast, visitors can explore Brief Garden, the artistic creation of his brother, Bevis Bawa.
